Egyptian Figures
Names in ancient Egypt were very mystical and powerful. Each god had five names, and each was associated with an item, such as air, with celestial bodies, or a descriptive statement about the god, virile or majestic as strong.

The creator of all things was either Re, also known as Amon, Ptah, Khnum or Aten. The heavens were represented by Hathor, Bat, and Horus. Osiris is a god on earth was Ptah. The annual flooding of the Nile was Hapi. Storms, evil and confusion were Seth. His counterpart was Ma'at, who represented balance, justice and truth. The moon was Thoth and Khonsu. Re, the sun god, took many forms, and transcended most of the borders that contained the other gods. The shape of the sun, the disk (or ATEN) was deified into another god, Aten.
Some gods were venerated in various areas. Local towns or villages, known as Nomes, often had one God is known only to that region. On occasion, these gods attained recognition throughout Egypt and became the myths and legends that are handed down from century to century.
The kings who considered themselves gods of ancient Egypt formed a bridge over the chasm that divides the people and the gods. In later times, around the third dynasty of kings became "transformed into" gods. The heirs to the throne were kept off the screen. At an early age is known to many, and were known as children, the future does not gods. A king may have had many heirs and may not have known who would assume the throne until much later. In order for the people, (and future king), to accept the transformation, certain procedures had to be worked out. This dilemma was resolved wonderfully by the ritual that the king was merged with the god. Belief was that all future kings had two aspects of her being, her physical being and his "ka." The ka was its spiritual counterpart as part of the king at birth and stayed with him throughout his life. Before assuming the throne was a ritual that unites the king's ka and his person. The king and his priests to go into a temple, perform the ritual, and emerge as a god. Everyone was expected to witness the miracle of transformation, when the king re-emerged from the temple. In this way, the new king was accepted as a god and his word was accepted as law.
Isis - The mother of Horus and sister and consort of Osiris was worshiped in a row. Associated with Astarte, Hathor, Nut and Sothis, which was later revered throughout the Roman Empire.
Sekhmet is cat-head with Leona was the mistress of war and disease.
Horus - was the first god in the shape of a falcon with the sun and moon as his eyes. The sky-god was the ruler of the day.

Tutankhamun-The most famous Egyptian pharaoh today is, without doubt, Tutankhamun. The boy king died in his teens.
Bastet was a goddess, represented as a cat, his mission was to protect the home and symbolizes the joy of life.
